The 2009 season Absolute Music Series at the Friedman Center celebrates the finest in music and dance with six concerts that feature master musicians from both coasts and a professional dancer. Concerts will be held Sundays at 2 p.m. January 4, through June 14.
Now in its sixth season, the series features first class professional artists. It is the series’ mission to bring top-notch music at affordable prices to the Santa Rosa community.
Three concerts will be performed by String Circle under the direction of Joseph Edelberg, Concertmaster of the Santa Rosa Symphony and will include Kati Kyme, 2nd Violin, Anthony Martin, Viola and Thalia Moore, Cello.
The March program, also under the direction of Joseph Edelberg, will include a reprise performance of Schubert’s Trout Quintet with featured pianist Norma Brown who will also participate in a Sonata program before intermission. This concert is sponsored by Absolute Music’s co-founders’ Susanne and Alfred Batzdorff on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary.
In May, Miriam Peretz will return to Absolute Music by popular demand. She will present her new dance production, “Miriam’s Well.” This work, a timely message for peace in the Middle East, is based on the three Mary characters of the religions in that area. Accompaniment will be provided by Doug Morton, the Santa Rosa Symphony’s principal trumpet with Orient Express, an ensemble of accomplished professional musicians.
The season closes in June with the internationally renowned Atlantic Brass Quintet. This popular Boston-based ensemble was established in 1985.
The Absolute Music series is a non-profit organization. 6-Concert Season tickets: $90, individual concert tickets $18. Free for full time students with ID. For information, call 707-538-9731 or visit www.absolutemusicseries.com.
